Wizz Air invests in Italy: new pilot training center in Rome
Great news for the aviation’s industry!
Wizz Air has announced it’s going to open a new training center in 2024. With a huge investment of 38 million, the company is going to build a new construction of 2500 square meters, near the terminal 1 of Rome Fiumicino. This building will host three flight simulators for the training of 4800 pilots per year.
The construction has already begun and the end of the works is scheduled in may 2024, except for the flight simulators (ready for the end of the year). This is the second training center for Wizz Air: the first one has opened in Budapest. Since the opening, the center has allowed its cadets and professional pilots to use the simulators for 83.000 flight hours.
Robert Carey, Wizz Air’s CEO, commented: “We are very proud to announce the new Wizz Air Training Center in Rome Fiumicino. This opening signifies investing in our most important value, our employees. […]
Thanks to this investment, we’re still creating opportunities for local people, increasing our Italian team until 1000 employees”.Another great step for the company, after the great recognitions obtained in 2023 (one of the five most secure companies for Air Transport Award Airlineratings; Company of the Year for Air Transport Awards; Most Sustainable Low-Cost Aviation’s Company in 2021 and 2023 for World Finance Sustainability Awards; Company of the Year for Global Sustainability for CAPA-Centre for Aviation for Excellence in 2022-23).
